Canoeing and Kayaking
The Symond's Yat Gorge provides Wyedean Canoe and Adventure Centre with
the best location in the country for the novice or expert canoeist. Our
exclusive facilities on the banks of the Wye comprise of Canadian open
canoes and single kayaks, including all the necessary peripheral
equipment. The safe, clean waters of the River Wye provide the ideal
environment for the complete beginner to develop basic canoe strokes,
balance and canoe control, all supervised by our fully qualified
Instructors.
Raft Building
Rafting is often an initial activity designed to get a group to 'pull together'
and so individuals can immediately feel part of a team. The challenge is
to design, construct and paddle the raft -lots of fun.
White Water
Parts of the River Wye are rapid enough to engage in White Water
kayaking, a totally rewarding
and exhilarating experience suitable for novice and experts alike.
River
Trips
As confidence develops, a paddle downstream gives the canoeist the opportunity
to tackle additional activities which are tailored to match individual abilities,
such as 'River Expeditions' where you can experience the thrill of paddling
'open' canoes over varying distances and differing river conditions.
We
have a fleet of 12 seat Voyager Canoes (see picture above) which is a
great fun activity for a larger group these are available under the
instruction of our experienced voyager guides
Guidance
and Coaching
We can provide the teaching which will enable pupils to attain British Canoe
Union certificates and awards, from one star to Coaching Qualifications.
